The Kitty Letter with
Timmy the Tabby

Salutations cat fans,

I recently returned from Hawaii, much to my dismay, but I refuse to let it bring me down! We cats have nine lives, yes, but 9 million ways to keep ourselves entertained at home.

So, you might be wondering what has Timmy done now?

Answer: I’ve created excellence.

It’s called the Timmy Temple, a resort that makes all other resorts looked like chopped liver…which is actually really tasty.

Anyhow, Timmy’s Temple is an exclusive bungalow for the coolest of cats. It’s in the attic just above mother’s room and comes complete with a window for spying on the neighbors, a massive ball of yarn that mother must have stored away years ago and a convenient hole by which any cat can easily access the kitchen to grab some grub. When I say “any cat” what I really mean is, cool cats or cats who do not resemble and/or act like Glen…the creepy neighbor cat from next door.

But more on Timmy’s Temple some other time, let’s get to the news.

A month back or so I discussed why it is important we cats avoid birds of prey like owls. Here’s another reason to avoid birds of prey. It’s an excerpt from a recent article on NYDailyNews.com

“Maybe the hawk thought Eddie was a plump white rabbit stretched out on the deck like a country breakfast. No way the 4-pound raptor could carry him over the brownstone rooftops to his nest in the park.

The answer is, he couldn't. Not very far, anyway. He made it about 50 feet. "He dropped him in the garden of a building a few doors down," Eddie's amazed owner said.
"The tenant was awakened by a huge thud in his garden. He ran out and found his garden umbrella toppled over and a cat in the corner, meowing." Fat Eddie had been dropped at least five stories.

"I can only imagine Eddie bounced off the umbrella like in the cartoons," the owner said." When the flabbergasted neighbor with cats falling from the sky went out that afternoon he spotted the woman's flyers and called. "I have your cat!" he exulted. She ran down, fetched Eddie and took him to a vet.”

When I first read this story I didn’t know whether to laugh or hide in fear because I was outside, so I hid and then laughed.

It’s really quite remarkable that Eddie survived, and it goes to show that being a festively plump feline isn’t all that bad. Heck, Eddie’s love handles saved his life. I’m just glad this story had a happy ending because it could have gone in the bird’s favor.

Maybe after I’m done constructing Timmy’s Temple, I’ll work on a machine that protects cats from being swooped on and snatched.

I’ll call it: Timmy’s Traptastic Bird Snatcher. Yeah…I like that.

Until next time, I’m Timmy the Tabby, stay cool my friends.
