Konnichiwa cat fans! So, it’s February, one of my least favorite months of the year. I know what you’re thinking, “Valentine’s Day…he doesn’t like Valentine’s Day?” Well, you’re correct, I don’t, but not for the reasons you might believe. No, in fact I’m a very happy kitty when it comes to my love life. In fact, this was the fourth Valentine’s Day I spent with my foxy feline, Ursula. She’s a babe and we’re going steady. No big deal… But enough about me, I don’t like Valentine’s Day because of the neighbor’s dog, Eddie. Eddie and his gal from across the cul-de-sac LOVE to serenade one another on Valentine’s Day. It lasts all day and all night, and it’s not a pleasant melody. You know how wolves howl and it sounds kind of cool? Well, Eddie sounds nothing like that and neither does his squeeze. Think of the worst howling dog in your neighborhood. Thinking? Now, imagine that dog’s tail was just stepped on and you have Eddie’s sound. On a more pleasant note…hehe, you like that pun? So, on a more pleasant note, to the news we go! What is it with some cats, planes and airports? I remember writing about a cat back in November named Jack. Jack, you might recall, “missed his flight” and roamed the JFK airport for two months without food or water. Two months! Well, recently, another cat did something similar. Ripples, a 10-year-old tabby, was apparently not keen on the idea of flying. So, just as the plane was about to take off, he escaped from his carrier that was stationed UNDER his owner’s seat. (The owner later said it was the security guards’ fault for not having secured the latches properly.) After fleeing from his carrier, Ripples bolted towards first class (smart cat) and disappeared. About four hours later, Air Canada crew members found Ripples…in the plane’s cockpit. To get to him, they had to literally remove several electrical panels. The cat was visibly frightened and, I imagine, the passengers visibly annoyed. Ripple’s owner, Debbie Harris, said it was the furry feline’s first and last trip on a plane. So, what do the escapes of Jack and Ripples mean? Well, being a cat, I imagine these cats were trying to tell their owners something like, oh I don’t know, “hey mom, I’m not digging the whole plane thing, ya know?” “10,000 feet is pretty high and I rather like the ground.” Perhaps there’s a better way to travel with your cat? Like a train. That’s what mother takes me on, and it’s top notch. Cars are good too, but road trips with mother aren’t the best. She drives like a grandma. Until next
time, I’m Timmy the Tabby; much love to my cat peeps.
