We’re also big fans of Twitter, so be sure to follow us as we may host another Twitter giveaway in the coming months!
Stray Cat Alliance (SCA) has been holding its 2012 Ravishing Rescues Calendar online pet photo contest to celebrate 11 years of success in saving tens of thousands of cats' lives through its advocacy, Trap-Neuter-Return free programs, outreach and adoption program. Lily and her baby won first prize and will be on the front of the calendar and inside page. The 12 subsequent top-voted photos will become 'ravishing rescues of the month' from January - December 2012 with a short bio. Check them out! This month's Cat Walk Model is Cosmo the pianist. Remember,
every month, one of your cats is selected to be our Cat Walk Model. You
can enter your cat's photo, name and information on our website by sending
an email to gallery@katkabin.com

next month, have fun with your feline companions! |
What is up my fellow felines and feline fanatics? Summer, as you know, is coming to an end. I wish it wasn’t so, but alas, it’s time to prepare for fall. Don’t get me wrong, fall is a great time of year! Mother and I go pumpkin shopping, we watch the leaves turn from green to gold, she dresses up as a witch and I don my black cat costume- it’s great! The only bad thing is, it gets colder. I’m not a cold kitty, I’m a “let me sprawl out in the sun until I’m a lobster,” kitty. Now to the news! How about this lady who donated over $8 million in her cat’s name to the veterinary school at the University of California, Davis? Wow, that’s a lot of mula! Apparently, Maxine Alder passed away in 2009, but 10 years before, she took her beloved cat Du Bee to UCD’s vet school. Du Bee eventually died, but Alder was so impressed with the care and nurture shown by the staff that she made a $1 million dollar donation to the veterinary school in 2004, and later, after her passing, Alder left the school an additional $7.6 million dollars. The money will not only aid in current companion animal cancer research and treatment developments at UCD but will also provide scholarships for future generations of students studying veterinary sciences. It’s truly a wonderful story, and I can tell you, cats everywhere are talking about this woman’s generosity. Just think of it, maybe a cure for pet cancer could come from this donation! Until next
time, I’m Timmy the Tabby, hang loose my friends.
