August 2010 MewsLetter

Welcome to our August MewsLetter.

This summer is definitely a hot one and we hope you and your cats are managing to stay cool. Kick back and relax we have some great reads for you this month.

The Confessions of a catnip junkie by Allan Goldstein

Summer is all about kicking back and relaxing with a good book and any cat lover will find catnip junkie very hard to put down.

This is the story of two-year-old Doo Doo, a restless orange tabby whose curiosity takes him coast-to-coast and back again, told from the perspective of an older, much wiser cat. “I am two cats,” he says. “The Doo Doo who was born of this story and the Doo Doo who lived it, fourteen years ago.” Perhaps it’s this dual role that makes Doo Doo such a charismatic narrator and his confessions so compelling. A great read!

Summer is also the ideal time for taking shots of your fabulous felines so here are some tips for you.
Be patient and have respect.
Treats, sounds and toys can help but they normally work on cats only once, especially the shy or aloof ones.
Try and anticipate their moves so you don’t miss the moment.
If your camera has the continuous shooting mode learn to shoot with it – this feature lets you capture a few frames per second where you can catch unpredictable actions like yawning, licking, etc.
Know your camera well — even a point-and-shoot can get surprisingly good results if you learn how to use it. Keep looking through the viewfinder and keep composing and framing.
Be sensitive towards the cats’ moods, don’t push if they appear bored, stressed, nervous or tired — if you don’t enjoy the shoot, most likely the cats aren’t enjoying it either.
If you take some great shots of you cats in their KatKabin be sure to post them on our photo gallery.

Until next month relax and have fun with your cats. >^..^<
