Brinsea
collaborate with one of America's top parrot breeders
Parallel
but independent lines of inquiry have led to close collaboration
between Brinsea's Florida facility and Voren's
Aviaries in Loxahatchee. Howard Voren, also
founder and director of the Voren Research Institute
for Psittacultural Science, has been breeding a vast
variety of parrot species for more than 25 years and
is recognized as a world authority on Amazon parrots
and Ara Macaws.
Having used many of the different brands of incubator
available, Howard has been developing his own novel
technique over the past seven years, which successfully
imitates the natural incubation environment more closely
than commercially available machines. His approach,
which has not been published, has many features in common
with a project initiated by Brinsea more than 20 years
ago and which has remained dormant following some early
disappointments.
Since Frank Pearce of Brinsea, and Howard first met
in July 1997 and realized the possibilities of pooling
their complimentary expertise, prototype incubators
are undergoing tests at Voren Aviaries in the hope that
a radical new product can be developed to meet the needs
of conservationists and breeders of exotic and wild
birds.
The work goes on! Howard Voren is the principal author
of 'Parrots: Hand-Feeding and Nursery Management' and
author of numerous papers published in BirdTalk and
other magazines. For more details see www.voren.com
